Is EVERYBODY Psychic?

Updated: Jan 1, 2023

I am what you might call a 'Skeptical Psychic'. I've always believed in spirits, and in life after life. I've always felt that my 6th sense was alive and well, but I was never sure exactly how it worked or why it did, just that it did. I set out on a journey to find some proof that it exists in all of us, and to answer the question:

Is everybody psychic?

I believe the answer is yes, to a certain extent. Take athletes, for example. It takes talent, hard

work, patience and practice to become a professional athlete. Although all of us have varying

degrees of athletic skill, not all of us have what it takes to turn pro. Yet, with hard work,

practice and patience we can improve our fitness and our athletic ability.

Our psychic sense works like that. We are all born with it, with varying levels of natural ability or talent, and with healthy amounts of practice, patience and hard work, we can wake up the ability to, at the very least, use that sense to help guide us to make choices that are for our greatest good.

Einstein said: "Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it.” Science calls it energy, different religions call it a spirit or a soul, but it’s the same thing. We are a spirit, living in a human body, having a human experience on this planet. As such, our body, mind and spirit are one in this experience.

Our spirit or intuitiveness is like a GPS, helping to guide us through our lives and make choices.

The trouble is that most of us have shut off the GPS. We live in a time where our culture

glorifies busy-ness, and we’re too exhausted at the end of the day to give that GPS the attention

it deserves.

Sometimes we hear it, that unmistakable ping – warning us that we’re headed in the wrong

direction, but we ignore the feelings our spirit is sending because they can feel uncomfortable. At

times, we’re guided toward the right path but more often than not, it’s a bumpy one. So, we drift

toward the more comfortable road, shut down our humanness and blindly drive on auto pilot,

going through the motions of our lives without really feeling anything.

Déjà vu

Most of us have had moments of Déjà vu or 'gut feelings' about situations, people or circumstances. Many of us can even 'read the room'. Have you ever met someone for the first time who seemed 'familiar' to you, or walked into a crowd with a bad vibe? That’s your psychic sense at work; your intuition, spirit or 'inner GPS', gently guiding you toward this situation or that, toward this person, or away from that one.

Most of us, at some point, have said “I knew I should have...”. Actually, you didn't 'know', you 'felt'. The mind or the intellect is about knowing, and the spirit or the intuition is about feeling. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between what we feel and what we know, between wishful thinking and a message from beyond. It takes time, it takes quiet reflection, patience and practice to really be able to dig deep. What an easier time we would have if our intuition and our intellect were in sync!

In today’s health-conscious world, we know, or we have a pretty good idea, how to keep our bodies healthy. We are learning how to be mentally balanced and holistically well. But what do we do for our spiritual hygiene? How do we keep that part of us healthy, robust, running smoothly and easier to access?

The simple answer is care and practice.

In order to really live our lives fully, we have to learn how to get back in touch with that spiritual side of ourselves. It’s always been there, waiting for the body and the mind to wake up and use it for our greatest good. The more we use it, the stronger it gets.

How do we do that? Give it some attention. All you need is some quiet space (on a meditation

pillow or a walk in nature, or prayer). Trust your gut instinct, practice and be playful with it!

Respect it and honour it.

Yes, everybody is 'psychic'. That gift is inside each and every one of us. Always has been and

always will be. All we have to do is give it some love and give it a listen!
